Dare offers specialized support across 5-Axis Robotic Milling, 3D scanning, 3D modelling, Design for Manufacture and Assembly, and Robotic Fabrication. We can help you realize your project at any stage, from early concept to final realisation.
// 5-Axis Robotic Milling
Our robotic milling cell is built for large and geometrically complex workpieces that are difficult to produce on conventional CNC routers.
Learn about our workflow
-
Using an ABB IRB 6740 industrial robot, we can machine from multiple orientations across a large working envelope. This makes the process well suited to sculptural forms, architectural components, bespoke timber elements, moulds, prototypes and other oversized or highly three-dimensional parts.
-
Equipped with a high-performance 14 kW tool-changing spindle, our system utilizes premium carbide milling bits to ensure state-of-the-art cutting quality across every project.
-
Our practice is rooted in timber and cork, reflecting a core commitment to sustainable, natural materials. That said, we remain adaptable to client preferences, offering the option to incorporate foam and synthetic materials when requested.
// 3D Scanning
3D scanning allows us to work with existing objects, irregular materials and complex forms that are difficult to capture accurately using traditional measurement techniques.
Our scanning workflow creates a direct connection between physical materials and digital fabrication.
Scan data can be used to reconstruct surfaces, locate existing components, compare physical geometry with digital models, and generate material-specific geometry for subsequent design and robotic processing.
The process is particularly useful for unique timber pieces, prototypes, existing structures, renovation and heritage elements; any situation where the physical object or material needs to inform the digital workflow.
Built around Zivid 3D machine-vision technology, the workflow can be adapted and transferred across multiple robotic platforms, including ABB, Universal Robots and KUKA.
// 3D Modelling
We can start from a sketch, concept or existing CAD geometry and develop it into a fully manufacturable 3D model. The modelling process is closely tied to fabrication, helping translate design intent into geometry that is ready for production.
// Robotic process development
Our core strength lies in bridging the gap between creative vision and robotic execution, developing custom processes that integrate sustainability criteria while maintaining design intent. Drawing on our deep DfM expertise, we match the optimal manufacturing path to the desired project outcomes.
Our expertise spans a diverse spectrum of applications, from robotic vision and 3D printing to metal bending and automated pick-and-place. By developing tailored workflows and specialized end-effectors, we provide the technical foundation needed to solve complex fabrication challenges, ranging from bespoke automation systems to the production of singular objects.
Custom workflows can be developed on request. Contact us for more information.
